Telecoms in UK:
The UK has one of the most liberal telecoms markets in the world,
which is regulated by the Office of Communications (Ofcom). There
are hundreds of different types of telephone numbers available
in UK - and amongst these are "Special Services Numbers".
Numbers beginning with 0844 are for calls up to 5 pence per minute
and number beginning with 0871 are for calls between 5 and 10
pence per minute. Yim Siam Telecom has been allocated its own
number ranges by Ofcom, via which we provide our fixed-price calling
service between UK and Thailand.

This revoultionary new service was conceived in Thailand by a
company director who travels to UK regularly, but found the cost
of calls from UK to Thailand from BT lines and UK mobiles very
expensive. The only alternative was pre-paid international calling
cards, but the problem with these cards is the 'hidden charges'
and poor quality connections. Luckily, the UK has a very liberal
telecoms market which allows special types of numbers to be used
for many different services - like those that begin with 0871.
The Thai company director then took the idea of 'fixed
price calling to Thailand' to a UK telecoms
consulting company - and Yim Siam was born.

No subscription fee, no pre-payment, no
contract to sign - and you don't receive a bill from us either.
To start using the service, you just dial one of our access numbers
for the destination you require - 0871
752 0 752 (6 p/min) for Bangkok landlines, 0871
669 1010 (10 p/min) for Thailand and mobiles or
the access number for any other countries you wish to call (from
5 p/min) - see the web page "Other Destinations" or
click for list. All you
pay for is the cost of calling the Yim Siam access number and
we pay for the international call to Thailand (or other country).
Your normal telephone provider will charge you for calling our
access number, the charges for which will appear on your normal
phone bill. You will not receive any bills from us.
For example: if you use your normal BT, NTL
or Telewest line to make a 5 minute call to Bangkok via our 6
p/min access number 0871 752 0 752,
you will only be charged 30 pence on you next bill from your telephone
service provider. On your bill, you will see a call to our 0871
752 0 752 number, with a duration of 5 minutes
and a total charge of 5 min x 6p = 30p. So, with a simple (and
very low) price of 6 pence per minute you will know exactly what
each call is going to cost - and not get any unpleasant surprises
on your phone bills. The prices quoted to call any of Yim Siam's
access numbers are all inclusive of VAT. There are no further
subscription or connection charges for making international calls
through Yim Siam.

that begin with 07 (like a UK mobile number) that can be used
to divert a call to you wherever you are - even to Thailand or
any other country. It costs the caller a little more to call your
Yim Siam personal number than it does to call a UK mobile phone
- and this is to cover the extra cost of forwarding the call to
